EDUCATION IS THE MAJOR FACTOR THAT LEADS TO ECONOMIC GROWTH -Lee In-tae

A public lecture titled “Growing the Nigerian Economy through Education, the South Korean Model” was held on the 22nd of October , 2019 in the multipurpose auditorium at the Bauchi Road Campus of the University of Jos posited that the major factor that leads to economic growth and development in any nation is education.
The speaker and guest lecturer of the public lecture, Major-General Lee In-tae (rtd) who is also the Ambassador of the Republic of South Korea to Nigeria, urged Nigeria as a developing country to put more effort toward improving the educational sector in its country as  “there is a thin line between education and economic growth”.
In his lecture , In-tae gave a brief history of South Korea and how it rose from hardship after 65 years of war and now to one of the 7th  largest economy in the world.
He urged Nigeria as a developing country to see south Korea as a model country to emulate in terms of growing their economy.
He added by saying that the diplomatic ties between Nigeria and South Korea was formed in February 1970 and so South Korea will put in effort to help Nigeria in reviving its economy.
Chairperson of the event, Professor Sonni Gwanle Tyoden who was represented by the secretary to the Plateau State government, Professor Danladi Atu, appreciated the guest speaker for honouring the school’s invitation and hopes to sustain the relationship between South Korea and the state beyond the university environment.
He also commended the Vice Chancellor of the University, Professor Sebastian Seddi Maimako for his effort toward developing the university and for hosting a guest of high magnitude to give a public lecture on a topic that would lead to economic growth in the country .
Chief host of the event, Professor Sebastian Seddi Maimako, also appreciated the guest speaker and his team for honouring the school’s invitation and hopes to achieve value to the educational system of the University of Jos.
The event witnessed  the presentation of gifts and awards to the guest speaker, a cultural dance performance by the department of theatre and film arts of the university, a hip-hop performance by the a hip-pop group and also a Taekwondo performance by the Taekwondo group, University of Jos chapter.

SENATOR FROM ARTS FACULTY DONATES SANITARY MATERIALS By  Admin   on  Wednesday, October 30, 2019 Senator Tashi Manasseh David on Wednesday, 30th October donated sanitary items to the faculty of arts at the end of his campaign initiative tagged: “Healthy Environment Campaign.” The Senator, representing Faculty of Arts constituency at Students Union Government (SUG)  House of Parliament initiated this intervention aimed at complementing the efforts of the faculty management in maintaining sanitary conditions in the faculty.
