Senator Tashi Manasseh David on Wednesday, 30th October donated sanitary items to the faculty of arts at the end of his campaign initiative tagged: “Healthy Environment Campaign.”
The Senator, representing Faculty of Arts constituency at Students Union Government (SUG) House of Parliament initiated this intervention aimed at complementing the efforts of the faculty management in maintaining sanitary conditions in the faculty.
He added that creating a healthy environment for effective learning has become necessary following inappropriate disposing of trash in lecture halls, around the environs of the faculty and careless handling of toilet facilities.
Responding to this, the dean, Prof. Sati Umaru Fwatshak, expressed happiness on receiving the items as he said: “I am happy that this is coming from you. If you see students coming up with initiatives like this, it shows they really want things to change for good.” He further commended Manasseh for his kind gesture to the Faculty through this initiative and promised that the management will do their best to give their support in order to sustain the initiative.
Also speaking, the faculty officer, Mr. Jonathan Abimiku and the faculty staff adviser, Dr. Ahidjo Embugushki described this as a laudable achievement from the Senator’s office and urged students in the faculty to co-operate with this movement so as to ensure the success of this campaign in making the faculty of arts clean and healthy for effective learning.
The campaign which started on Monday 28 to Wednesday 30 October, 2019 gave the Senator and members of his campaign team opportunities to talk to the faculty officials, heads of departments, lecturers and students about the importance of keeping the faculty both within and outside its environs clean. Among the items donated were disinfectants, tissue papers, detergents and brooms.
